Love Coffee is the 2017 brainchild of local businessman and philanthropist Chuck Crews. During his years coaching Special Olympics Chuck became aware of the difficulties some athletes had in finding employment. Crews gathered other interested parties and partnered with non-profit Love INC's team. Love INC's co-founder, Jane Williams, pointed out, "people with disabilities have always had double-digit unemployment rates. Finding a job is often their number one issue." Together they spent the next two years formulating a plan and gathering support.
Love Coffee now creates a welcoming environment for community engagement and provides many opportunities for inclusion and meaningful employment.
The cafe has a full coffee bar and serves artisan baked goods, along with a small breakfast and lunch menu. Everything is made completely from scratch, and produced with the help of those who have intellectual and developmental differing abilities or other barriers to employment.
